Rising Tide Cover Art Contest
Calling all artists!
The Office of Research and Scholarship (R&S) is having a contest open to students, staff and faculty to design the cover of this year’s Rising Tide, the 鶹ý’s research and scholarship magazine. The theme of this year’s Rising Tide is to tell the story of how 鶹ýresearch and scholarship efforts help create and positively impact communities. “Community” is intentionally defined broadly - it can be small or expansive, internal or external to the University, local to global. In your artwork, think about how 鶹ýR&S efforts are building or enhancing communities, or how a community can lead to a new line of scholarly inquiry.
Just as 鶹ýfaculty have a wide range of research topics, this year’s cover should ideally include many different disciplines and areas of scholarship that 鶹ýis known for (e.g., health care education, marine and environmental, neuroscience and pharmaceutical, global impact, dental, etc.).
Each submission can be created with any medium or format (paint, digital art, drawing, etc.). The submission can be in concept form or complete, but should be presentable for judging by October 31st and be able to be completed within a couple of weeks after final selections. Due to the high quality of image needed for the cover, we may need to have the university’s photographer capture the image for printing purposes.
The winner will:
- Be featured on the cover of this year’s Rising Tide magazine
- Have a page inside explaining the piece
- Win a $250 prize
