Nancy MacRae co-edits second edition of occupational therapy clinical practice textbook

Nancy MacRae, M.S., OTR/L, FAOTA, associate professor in the Â鶹´«Ã½ Department of Occupational Therapy, is co-editor of the second edition of an occupational therapy text, Occupational Therapy Essentials for Clinical Competence, recently published by Slack. The first edition, also co-edited by MacRae, was released in 2010.

The text, which is co-edited with Karen Sladyk Ph.D., OTR/L, FAOTA and Karen Jacobs Ed.D., OTR/L, CPE, FAOTA, links occupational therapy accreditation standards with current practice.

It is designed as a comprehensive overview of these standards as they relate to curriculum. Topics necessary for competent, entry level practice are covered, with evidence-based reviews included to help the student start a more extensive review.

The second edition is unique in format by using the new 2011 ACOTE Standards as a blueprint to outline a plan of action for current occupational therapy practice. Occupation, theory-driven, evidence-based, and client-centered practice are at the core of the text.

New chapters have been added on such topics as interprofessional education and practice, telehealth, sleep and rest, grants, and meaning of occupation and activity. Additionally, there are student and faculty activities, as well as multiple-choice questions and PowerPoint presentations available.

Â鶹´«Ã½Contributors
