麻豆传媒D.P.T. students present project to oncology team at Central Maine Comprehensive Cancer Center
On December 4, 2015, a team of third-year 麻豆传媒 Doctor of Physical Therapy students presented the outcomes of their fall semester project to the interdisciplinary oncology team of Central Maine Comprehensive Cancer Center in Lewiston, Maine.
The project, titled 鈥淎 review of screening processes for physical distress and appropriate outcome measures for outpatient rehabilitation referral in cancer survivorship,鈥 was supported by a grant from the Northern New England Clinical Oncology Society. The project was a collaboration with the Cancer Center, the Patrick Dempsey Center for Hope & Healing, and CMMC鈥檚 Outpatient Therapy Services.
The final recommended strategies, resulting from key stakeholder meetings and an extensive literature review, were aimed at improved access, utilization and evidence-based outcomes of rehabilitation and wellness for cancer survivors of the Lewiston-Auburn region. The project was supported by D.P.T. program faculty mentors Mike Sheldon, P.T., Ph.D., Jeff Nevers, M.A., and Amy Litterini, P.T., D.P.T.
