Tamara King published in āThe Journal of Painā
Tamara King, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Ā鶹“«Ć½ās College of Osteopathic Medicine, published an original research paper in the peer-reviewed journal of the American Pain Society, The Journal of Pain.
The paper, titled, āCentral Sensitization and Neuropathic Features of Ongoing Pain in a Rat Model of Advanced Osteoarthritisā examines underlying biological mechanisms of NSAID resistant osteoarthritis pain. The research lays the foundation for future research examining alternative therapeutic options for improved pain management for these patients.
The research project was performed by a number of former undergraduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences. The lead author, Joshua Havelin ā11 is currently a graduate student in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Engineering Program and works in Kingās laboratory at UNE. Ian Imbert ā12 obtained a master of public health degree (MPH) at Ā鶹“«Ć½in 2015 while working as a senior research technician and laboratory manager in Kingās laboratory. Jennifer Cormier is currently a PharmD student at UNEās College of Pharmacy. Joshua Allen ā15 is a first year medical student at UNEās College of Osteopathic Medicine.
