鶹ýCommunity Therapy Center holds outreach program on concussions
On January 27, 2016 The 鶹ýCommunity Therapy Center (CTC) provided an opportunity for community outreach entitled “Comprehensive Concussion Rehab Program: From Return to Sports to Return to Life!” in partnership with providers and clinicians from Southern Maine Health Care. The presentation was the second installment of a 2-part series.
The panel was comprised of health care providers from a variety of disciplines. The panelists provided specific insight into their professional roles in treating patients after a concussion. They also highlighted the importance of an interprofessional and collaborative team approach for student athletes to help them return to both academics and athletics. The panel used two case examples to provide further in-depth analysis and synthesis of individualized care using a team approach for non-athletes following concussion.
Audience members included students from various programs at both the graduate and undergraduate level that included: Athletic Training, Occupational Therapy, Health, Wellness and Occupational Studies, Physical Therapy, as well as members from the community.

Elizabeth Crampsey, M.S., OTR/L, BCPR, coordinator of the Community Therapy Center coordinated this series.
