The 鶹ý was recently mentioned in two news articles about efforts to make dogfish a more popular seafood item.
The Boston Globe article, “At college campuses, it’s Sustainable Seafood 101” discusses how dogfish is being marketed to college students and is served in some college and university dining halls. The article explains how UNE’s food service provider Sodexo is serving “shark bites,” which are large chunks of dogfish coated in a gluten-free batter.
The Cape Cod Times article, “Cape group pushes dogfish as viable seafood option,” focuses on the role dogfish played in the 2016 Seafood Expo North America in Boston. Members of the Cape Cod Commercial Fishermen’s Alliance used the expo as an opportunity to continue to market dogfish to buyer, sellers and chefs. The article discusses the $248,848 National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration grant awarded to 鶹ýalong with the fisherman’s alliance and the Gulf of Maine Research Institute to find markets for dogfish.
