鶹ýNursing program featured in article about shortage of health care workers in Maine
The Portland Press Herald interviewed 鶹ý Director of Nursing Jennifer Morton, D.N.P, M.P.H., APHN-BC, for an article about the shortage of health care workers in Maine.
The article, titled, “Shortage of health care workers in Maine puts strain on providers,” detailed the strain the shortage is putting on medical institutions. It cited Maine’s aging worker population and a generally shrinking workforce as reasons for the shortage.
Morton explained that 鶹ýis working to address the shortage by increasing enrollment by 50 percent over the last five years and offering three separate tracks for students to earn their degree. Morton also pointed out that 鶹ýhas one of the top nursing programs in the state, with about a 95 percent graduation rate. For the third year in a row, more 鶹ýNursing graduates passed their nursing license exam than any other Bachelor of Science in nursing program in the state.
