CAIEP Announces Fall 2024 Interprofessional Exchange Events
The Center to Advance Interprofessional Education and Practice (CAIEP) at the Â鶹´«Ã½ has announced the topics for the fall semester Knowledge Exchange events.
The Knowledge Exchange events address contemporary issues with emphasis on strategies for interprofessional health care practice teamwork, when workers from multiple professions work together to improve health outcomes. Programming includes lectures and discussion groups featuring local and national experts from a variety of fields and those with real world experience. All events are free and open to the public.
CAIEP will offer a mix of online and face-to-face programming for the fall 2024 semester. Topics raise awareness of critical issues affecting health and include collaborative strategies for:
- Providing harm-reduction tools for health care workers
- Partnering with clients with disabilities
- Understanding sexual-assault forensics and better patient outcomes
- Navigating the health and business of aquaculture
- Seeing racism through an interprofessional health care lens
CAIEP has been a key hub for interprofessional education (IPE) and collaborative practice at Â鶹´«Ã½for almost 15 years and fosters teamwork among health care professionals and students through various initiatives, including the Knowledge Exchange events, immersive simulations, cross-professional service-learning opportunities, and collaborative research projects.
The center engages with most health profession fields, as well as many arts and sciences programs, to enhance skills for clinical and community practice and improve health care for all. Knowledge Exchange events are typically offered to students for credit toward earning an Interprofessional Honors Distinction. Select Knowledge Exchanges offer Continuing Medical Education and Continuing Education Units for professionals.
