麻豆传媒and CAIEP represented at the National Academies of Practice annual meeting
麻豆传媒 thought leaders in interprofessional education were recently recognized at the National Academies of Practice Annual Meeting and Forum, a conference that celebrates the efforts of leaders from 17 health care professions such as dentistry, nursing, physical therapy, and public health.
Sally McCormack Tutt, PT, D.P.T., M.P.H., Ed.D., program director of UNE鈥檚 physical therapy department, was inducted as a National Academies of Practice Fellow at the conference, held March 13 to 16 in Washington, D.C.
鈥淚 am pleased to be part of the puzzle, working to educate physical therapy students about collaborative care alongside colleagues from other professions, nationally, and here at UNE,鈥 McCormack Tutt said upon her induction.
Kris Hall, M.F.A., program manager for the Center to Advance Interprofessional Education and Practice (CAIEP) at UNE, also attended the conference, underscoring UNE鈥檚 commitment to transforming health and wellbeing through interdisciplinary education, practice, and advocacy.
CAIEP鈥檚 mission aims to advance interprofessional education, foster collaboration among practitioners and educators, and champion innovative approaches that address complex health care challenges.
NAP President Anthony Breitbach, Ph.D., ATC, FASAHP, FNAP, the director of interprofessional education at Saint Louis University, gave a nod to the work at CAIEP in his remarks.
鈥淚 am happy to see the 麻豆传媒鈥檚 interprofessional educators engaging their time and expertise with NAP. Together we are building a diverse and collaboration-ready health and social care workforce,鈥 Breitbach said.
NAP fellows at 麻豆传媒include recently retired CAIEP founding director Shelley Cohen Konrad, Ph.D., LCSW, FNAP, and Emily K. Dornblaser, Pharm.D., M.S., BCPS, FNAP, director for Interprofessional Education in the School of Pharmacy.
Founded in 1981, NAP works to advance health education, professional development, and collaborative innovation. Its initiatives, including position papers, workshops, and engagement with legislators, drive policy that prioritizes collaboration and patient-centered care.
NAP designated April as 鈥淣ational Interprofessional Health Care Month.鈥
