Commission Becomes NECHE

In 2018, the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) completed a corporate restructuring to align with the U.S. Department of Education’s (USDOE) requirement that the higher education commission (CIHE) operate as a “separate and independent” entity*. As a result of this restructuring, the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) is now recognized by the USDOE as the regional accreditor for institutions of higher education in the six New England states, including the 鶹ý.

From time to time, you may see 鶹ýmaterials that still reference NEASC. For example, the University’s accreditation status was reaffirmed in 2017 — prior to the restructuring — so you will see references to NEASC in any documentation about that process. Restructuring in no way affects the accreditation status of the University. From our perspective, it is simply a name change.
